I started Kuk Sool when I was about 8 years old. It took me almost 7 years to understand what Kuk Sool is really about. It's not about kicking and punching, even though that can be a large part of it. Before Kuk Sool was a major part of my life I dreaded it, especially as I moved up in rank. I remember hoping that I would get sick before I came to class just so I wouldn't have to come. In order to promote to black belt, you had to 3 classes a week. My brother and I were behind 60 classes, so in order to catch up our mom made us do 4 classes a day every day, starting January 2015. Those first two weeks were some of the hardest weeks of my life. But instead of collapsing from the toughness like I thought I would, I eventually started enjoying it. Soon I wanted to come 5 classes a week. Now I can't stand not going. I love it all, the students, the instructors, the floor. Everyone at Kuk Sool is so crazy, but despite it we are all one big family. Along with God, I am pretty sure that Kuk Sool has saved my life. I have become stronger on the floor, so in the world I am stronger. Now I want to be able to give that back to others. At Kuk Sool Won O' Fallon I have a family who loves me. I have a community who supports my growth. I have an instructor and friends who push me to do better every day. And I want to be able to do that for other people. Kuk Sool Won O'fallon has a special magic that you will never see anywhere else. I hope that I can use Kuk Sool to touch as many people's lives as I can.
